Our
lives are comprised of constant –
and often simultaneous – transitions
that involve relationship issues, job
changes, residential moves, raising children,
and caring for aging parents. It can be
difficult to manage these situations,
much less hold onto your own hopes and
dreams. Over time, this struggle can be
overwhelming and cause you to feel anxious,
confused, or depressed. In these times,
we often turn to our network of family
and friends for support and advice. However,
while these people care for us, they’re
not always objective and may speak from
their own best interests rather than ours.
As
a mental health counselor, your goals,
interests, and passions are the most important
ingredients in my relationship with you.
I believe the answer is inside you –
and that my job is to help you find it.
To do so, I will work with you to identify
patterns, thoughts, and behaviors that
keep you from coping effectively, making
decisions, and moving forward in your
life. I then help you develop skills that
allow you to not only cope with change,
but make choices in your life each day
that honor the integrity of who you are
and help you create the life you want
– and deserve.
One-on-one
-
Adults
Many life situations and events –
even those that are positive, such as
marriage, the birth of a child, or a
new career – can cause frustration,
confusion, anger, fear, and/or sadness.
In these times, it’s helpful to
obtain an outside perspective to help
you gain clarity or direction. As a
skilled therapist, I focus on your strengths
to help you find more peace in your
life. As a trained Mental Health Counselor,
I can also identify and treat more serious
issues related to mental illness to
help you achieve recovery and resiliency.
-
Adolescents
Although it can be hard to believe,
the most difficult times in your life
provide the greatest opportunities for
growth. During adolescence, you struggle
with who you are and who you’d
like to become. Those around you will
have their own ideas of who they think
you should be, however their judgments
and closeness to you can make it difficult
to determine the solution that works
best for you. During these times, it’s
helpful to have someone work with you
to shape your life in accordance with
your vision. I provide a safe haven
to discover who you are and who you
want to be, and help you look at all
angles of a situation in order to identify
the ideal next steps. I will listen
and connect with you to provide the
guidance, freedom, and respect that
are so critical at this important time
in your life.
Couples
Being part of a couple is one of life’s
greatest pleasures – and greatest
challenges. Even when you’re coupled
with someone who makes your life feel
more complete and joyous, without constant
care and attention, your relationship
can suffer the effects of miscommunication,
misunderstandings, and general life wear-and-tear.
Most communication is non-verbal and,
given the hectic pace of modern life,
many couples rarely slow down to understand
the intention of the relationship. I’ll
work with you to create a structured,
safe, and secure environment in which
we can delve beneath the obvious issues
in your relationship to discover what’s
really missing, and help you move forward
to create the life you desire –
together.
